Thief pays firm for hammer stolen decades ago

Pennsylvania - A Pennsylvania tool-supply company says somebody mailed a $45 check to pay for a hammer stolen decades ago. Lynne Gramling, president of Central Contractors’ Supply Co., said that the check arrived and included an anonymous letter that says the writer stole a hammer 25 to 30 years ago. It reads, “Enclosed is $45 to cover the hammer plus a little extra for interest. I’m sorry I stole it, but have changed my ways.” ..more

Sock it to me! Ariz. man's socks stolen from yard

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. – Someone must have really needed some socks.

A southern Arizona man is out a dozen pairs of socks after someone sneaked into his back yard early Monday and stole socks off a clothesline.

He told the Cochise County Sheriff's Office that at some point between late Sunday and early Monday, someone entered his fenced-in back yard and made off with 12 pairs of white athletic socks that were hanging on a clothesline. A motion sensor light was also damaged.

Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carol Capas said the lost and damaged property totaled about $50.

Go-Carts Stolen, Raced Down Interstate

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - Police said teens stole two go-carts from Cool Crest overnight and raced them down Interstate 70. Police said the thieves broke a window in a storage shed and stole the carts, which sounded the alarms at the entertainment park. Witnesses reported seeing the go-carts driving down the highway.

Odd News-Stolen Chihuahua Turns Up at Vet's After Ingesting Meth
Bremerton - An employee with a Tacoma veterinary clinic called Bremerton Police on Friday to report a suspicious incident. The employee told an officer a Chihuahua had been brought into the clinic Thursday by a 40-year-old Silverdale man. The veterinarian believed the dog had ingested methamphetamine based on its strange behavior. They also believed the Silverdale man might have been high on methamphetamine, according to reports.
The dog was scanned for its microchip, which contains its owner's information. The chip showed the dog belonged to a 58-year-old Bremerton woman. The woman was called and said her dog had been reported missing a year ago.

The Silverdale man told the clinic he had been given the dog to repay a debt. Police talked with the Bremerton woman who said she didn't want anyone arrested; she just wanted her dog back.
