US Airways Flight Struck By Bullet

Odd News-Charlotte - Investigators say they now know what caused a small hole in a US Airways plane that traveled from Philadelphia to Charlotte. Sources say a stray bullet struck the rear of the Boeing 737-400 as it was landing in Charlotte. A pilot making a pre-flight inspection during a lay-over discovered the hole towards the rear of the aircraft. “He noticed a small hole in the exterior of the fuselage towards the rear of the aircraft. The Boeing 737 arrived at Charlotte from Philadelphia. She said there were no apparent problems during the flight.  More…

300 pound eagle ray landed on top of a woman

 Florida - An eagle ray weighing about 300 pounds landed on top of a woman on a boat in the Florida Keys throwing her to the deck and pinning her underneath it — the “scariest thing” that’s ever happened to her, she said. The woman, Jenny Hausch, was on the chartered boat with her husband and three children, taking pictures of a group of eagle rays as they flew out of the water. “These eagle rays, they were flying through the air,” said Kelly Klein of Two Chicks Charters, the captain of the boat. “These giant things go out of the water and slam back down.” Hausch said she was in the front of the boat, snapping away. More…

Woman bound in closet found dead

Utah - A woman who investigators believe was bound in a crucifix formation inside a small closet was found dead. Three people, including the woman’s primary caregiver and her former primary caregivers, were arrested for investigation of murder and abuse. Christina Harms, 22, was found dead. Initially, emergency crews were called to the house on a possible overdose. But as police and medical personnel looked at the victim, they immediately noticed ligature marks on her ankles consistent with plastic zip ties. They also found bruising on her thigh and head, a pepper seed in one of her eye lids, and her hands were completely covered with bandaging material which would have prevented her from getting the pepper seed out. Cassandra Shepard (Picture), 27, was arrested for investigation of domestic violence murder and obstruction of justice. Shepard was Harms’ legally documented guardian.  More…

Woman drugged, raped, jailed for adultry

 Australia - An Australian woman is suing a luxury United Arab Emirates resort after she was jailed for adultery when she complained of being drugged and raped by three men. Alica Gali, from Brisbane, was sentenced to 12 months in prison after an assault by three co-workers while drinking at the Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort staff bar in Fujairah, UAE. After reporting the incident to police, Ms Gali was jailed for adultery and served eight months before being pardoned and returning to Australia. In the UAE it is illegal to have sex outside of marriage or drink without a permit. More…

Fat Ho Burgers opens

 Waco, Texas - A young Texas woman decided there is no such thing as bad publicity when she considered names for her Waco eatery and decided on Fat Ho Burger. “My burgers, they’re cheap. They don’t go over 6 bucks because I thought, you know, I grew up in poverty,” Evans said. Evans, 23, grew up in Waco with her mother and five siblings. She is the only one in the family to graduate from college. The whole family is working at Fat Ho Burgers, but Evans said she had to invest everything she owned to start it.  More…

Netflix Issuing 23 cents Credit for Outage

Netflix said that it will offer a 3 percent credit to those who were affected by its streaming outage. The company will offer a 3 percent credit on its $7.99 per month streaming-only plan, so it only works out to about $0.23. It’s unlikely that all of Netflix’s 20 million customers were affected and will take advantage of the refund, but if they do, that adds up to about $4.6 million. The offer is good for the next seven days, and Netflix will be sending out an e-mail with instructions on how to apply the credit to your next bill. “We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused,” Netflix said in the e-mail.  More…

Mom climbs atop her family’s basketball hoop

 Dover, Delaware - A Delaware mom climbed atop her famil’s basketball hoop in a short-lived bid to keep authorities from ripping it out and confiscating it. Transportation workers and state police came to her neighborhood in Wilmington to remove several basketball goals that officials said were too close to the roadway. Several residents were sent letters last year warning them that the state’s “Clear Zone” law prohibits trees and other objects from being within seven feet of the pavement’s edge in a residential subdivision. Melissa, 39, parked her van underneath the goal, climbed the pole and perched herself behind the backboard, risking arrest. Odd News Man uses divorce papers to burn down wife’s business

Odd News- Missoula, Montana - Bail has been set at $200,000 for a 33-year-old Lolo man accused of using divorce papers to start a fire that burned down his estranged wife’s Frenchtown beauty salon. Prosecutors say Shawn Gawronski was sitting in his truck, gun in hand, near the burning Gifted Hands salon when deputies arrived early. He was arrested a short time later, and court records say he acknowledged spreading gasoline throughout the building and using his divorce papers to get the fire going. Gawronski is charged with arson, violation of a protection order and criminal mischief.  More… 

Naked Woman Rescued From Cliff

California - A naked woman was rescued after she got stranded on a San Diego cliff. The woman, who was not identified in the report, was unharmed. But it took rescuers 30 minutes to rig a series of ropes to harness the woman. A lifeguard helped her rappel to the beach. Maurice Luque, a spokesman from the San Diego Fire and Rescue Department, said people get stranded on the trails above Black’s Beach all the time, and the woman will not be charged for the rescue. It was not immediately clear how the woman ended up naked and stranded on a cliff 450 feet above sea level. More…

Woman attacks neighbor with marshmallow fork

 Elyria, Ohio - Police in Ohio said they arrested a woman who knocked on her neighbor’s door and jabbed him in the chest with a small pitchfork. The 42-year-old woman knocked on the door of a neighbor who described her expression as having “the look of death in her eyes.” Police said the woman, who was not identified, stabbed the neighbor in the chest with a small pitchfork used for toasting marshmallows. The neighbor was able to take the fork and called police. The womanhad earlier called the police on her neighbor for a noise complaint. More…

New York - Chris Brown exploded in rage behind the scenes at “Good Morning America” this morning smashing a window and storming out without a shirt sources tell TMZ and it was triggered by on-air questions about the Rihannaincident. Brown performed and was interviewed by Robin Roberts live from the Times Square studio when she began asking about the infamous incident.  Brown tried to redirect the questions to focus on his album — but Roberts continued to ask about Brown’s legal issues stemming from the Rihanna incident. Duck hunt protester shot in the face

Australia - The future of duck hunting is the subject of bitter debate after a protester was shot in the face by a teenage hunter. Witnesses claim they saw the 14-year-old boy taunting the victim, St Kilda woman Julia Symons, minutes before she was peppered with shotgun pellets at Lake Buloke in the state’s northwest. But police described the shooting as an accident after taking the teenage hunter and his uncle to nearby Donald police station for questioning and seizing the firearm involved. “I’ve been shot. Pastor Denies Communion, Must Give Church Tax Refunds

Houston, Texas - Members of a small Baptist congregation say their pastor denied them communion after they refused to give him their tax refunds. Parishioners at the Houston Unity Baptist Church claim the pastor, John Goodman, asked members of his congregation to hand over their tax refunds to the church. Goodman has admitted to denying his congregation communion but said he did so because church members overall have failed to support the church financially — like giving money toward its new parking lot. He said only four or five members of the church actually donate, and he called the rest of his congregations “devils.”  More…

Man Stoned to Death for homosexual advances

 Pennsylvania - Authorities in suburban Philadelphia say a 70-year-old man was stoned to death with a rock stuffed in a sock by a younger friend who alleged the victim made unwanted sexual advances. According to the criminal complaint, 28-year-old John Thomas of Lansdowne has told police he killed 70-year-old Murray Seidman because the Old Testament refers to stoning homosexuals. Delaware County authorities announced Friday that Thomas was arrested and charged with murder.  More…

Hawaii - A Honolulu man has been charged with second-degree assault for allegedly attacking a female paramedic who was trying to help him. Bail for Herlip Nowell, 64, is set at $11,000. Investigators say two female paramedics, ages 32 and 28, were called to 1525 Rycroft Street and found Nowell lying in a hallway. Man tries to bribe his way out of ticket

Port Orange, Florida - A motorcyclist was arrested in the Port Orange area after he tried to bribe his way out of a speeding ticket. According to sheriff’s spokesman Gary Davidson, a deputy spotted 20-year-old Andrew Ouellette traveling 67 mph in a 50 mph zone on Nova Road. The deputy pulled Ouellette over. According to the Sherriff’s Office, Ouellette told the deputy he had been ticketed several times recently and “couldn’t afford another one,” asking if there was anything he could do to avoid being cited.  Portland, Oregon - A fiercely protective elderly mutt is up for a national hero award for pestering her owner in the hours before he had a heart attack and then barking for help once it struck. Ceili,  a 15-year-old Lab mix, usually spends much of her day lounging in her North Portland home. But one day she stuck by her owner, Danny Fincher, trotting behind him from room to room, sometimes blocking his path. Teller says no to bank robber

 New York - The unsuccessful thief remained at large, said police in New Rochelle, New York, about 25 miles north of New York City.  Kansas City, Missouri - A Missouri lawsuit against the Kansas City Royals claims a man required three surgeries after being hit by a hot dog thrown by the team’s mascot. Bob Tormohlen, a lawyer for John Coomer, said in opening arguments of the Jackson County Circuit Court case his client suffered a detached retina and required three surgeries to correct the damage after a foil-wrapped hot dog thrown by mascot Sluggerrr, portrayed at the time by Byron Shores, struck him in the face at a game. Mummified Body Found in Hoarder’s Home

St. Louis, Missouri - Police were trying to determine if mummified remains found in the home of a known hoarder in St. Louis, Mo., are those of the homeowner’s mother who has not been seen in almost 20 years. Gladys Bergmeier, 75, was known to be a pack rat whose house was filled with newspapers, plastic bags and trash. She died on Feb. 7. When relatives were cleaning out her home, family members found the mummified remains of an elderly woman. The body is presumed to be Bergmeier’s mother, Gladys Stansbury, who moved into her daughter’s home in 1993. Neighbors do not recall seeing her once in the time since.  More…

Flight attendant puts toddler in overhead locker

Natalie Williamson claims she, her 17-month-old son, Riley, and her now estranged husband were on a Virgin flight from Fiji to Sydney, when the flight attendant picked up Riley, placed him in the locker and closed the latch. Virgin has admitted an incident did take place, but claims Ms Williamson’s husband was playing a peek-a-boo game with Riley involving the overhead compartment when the flight attendant joined in. “We conducted a thorough investigation of the incident and the staff member involved was subsequently terminated.” The airline offered Ms Williamson three free flights, but the mother has said she is too shaken by the mid-air experience to redeem them.  More…

Woman punched into coma in parking fight

New York - Lana Rosas was holding the spot for her boyfriend between two parked cars when Oscar Fuller drove up in a silver minivan. Fuller — whose prior busts include weapons possession and felony assault — jumped out and started screaming at Rosas when she claimed she was holding the space. Fuller then punched her in the face with so much force that the woman flew off her feet. The victim suffered permanent brain damage. It’s uncertain whether or not she will survive her injuries. Fuller, 35, allegedly sped from the scene but cops got his plate number and two witnesses picked his mug from a photo array. The electrician, a father of two, was charged with felony assault and remains jailed at the Manhattan Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bail.  More…

Fort Myers, Florida - A Florida high school student was questioned by authorities for wearing a T-shirt they found threatening. The unidentified boy at East Lee County High School in Lehigh Acres wore a T-shirt reading, “A friend will help you move, but a real friend will help you move a body,” a Lee County sheriff’s report stated. School officials searched his belongings and found written in his notebook: “What to write about. Doodles. The boy told a deputy, “I just find it to be funny and I like the humor in the message. … I was just free writing.” The student said he had no plans to hurt anyone and was returned to class, a deputy said.  More…

Meat from chimpanzees is on sale in Britain

 Britain - Chimpanzee meat is for sale in restaurants and market stalls in Britain, it has emerged. Trading standards officials uncovered the illegal bushmeat from the endangered species whilst testing samples believed to be seized from vendors in the Midlands. Imported meat could be carrying infectious diseases such as foot-and-mouth, anthrax, the Ebola virus, TB or cholera. Dubious meat is often tested, and has turned out to be things like rats and vermin in the past – but chimpanzee is unbelievable. It is not known how the bushmeat arrived in the Midlands, but experts believe it was probably flown into the country from Africa, possibly concealed in personal luggage. More…

Bangkok - The 11-year-old Thai girl Supatra Sasuphan today insisted that she was delighted after being officially recognised as the world’s hairiest girl. Although the schoolgirl from Bangkok has faced merciless teasing at school, Supatra says being given a Guinness World Record for her hair has helped her become extremely popular. Supatra is one of just 50 known sufferers of Ambras Syndrome - caused by a faulty chromosome - to be documented since the Middle Ages. Before the disease was understood, sufferers were branded ‘werewolves.’ She has thick hair growing over her face, ears, arms, legs and back. Even laser treatment has failed to stop the hair growth. But while most sufferers have been shunned, Supatra has gradually been embraced by her community, and became a popular and outgoing child.  More…
