Florida - A man named Benjamin Franklin Davis was taken into custody recently for trying to pass a couple of phony Hamiltons. It wasn’t his fault, Davis explained. He’d gotten the money from his ex-wife. Davis was detained by an employee of the Wal-Mart. The store reported that Davis had presented two $10 bills to a cashier and the cashier had determined both to be counterfeit.  More…

Florida - Police say a burglar broke into a Boca Raton apartment, not to steal, but rather to redecorate the living room. Officers say that an unknown person entered the apartment in question and moved a couch. How do you sneeze in a spacesuit? Aim low!

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (Reuters) – Veteran spacewalker David Wolf had some advice on Tuesday for those wondering how to sneeze in a spacesuit.

"Aim low, off the windscreen, because it's going to mess up your view and there's no way to clear it," said Wolf, who admitted being in just that predicament during Monday's spacewalk outside the International Space Station.

Wolf and his shuttle Endeavour crewmates took a break from their construction work at the space station to answer questions sent in by followers of commander Mark Polansky's Twitter feed, a web-based short messaging service.

The astronauts are four days into a planned 11-day stay at the orbital outpost, a $100 billion (60.8 billion pound) project by 16 countries.

On Tuesday, the astronauts transferred a locker of science experiments that will be mounted on a new platform on the station's Kibo laboratory.

Wolf and rookie astronaut Chris Cassidy are scheduled to make the third of five spacewalks planned during the Endeavour mission on Wednesday. Their job is to replace batteries in one of the station's solar power panels.

Odd News-Florida woman calls 911 3 times over McNuggets

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Authorities say a Florida woman called 911 three times after McDonald's employees told her they were out of McNuggets. A police report said 27-year-old Fort Pierce resident Latreasa L. Goodman told authorities she paid for a 10-piece last week but was later informed the restaurant had run out.

She says she was refused a refund and told all sales were final. A cashier told police she offered Goodman a larger portion of different food for the same price, but Goodman became irate.

Police say Goodman was cited on a misuse of 911 charge. A current phone listing for Goodman couldn't be found.

A McDonald's spokesman says Goodman should have been given a refund, and she's being sent a gift card for a free meal.Information from: The Stuart News

JACKSONVILLE, Florida - A Florida school board voted late Monday night to keep the name of a Confederate general and early Ku Klux Klan leader at a majority black high school, despite opposition from a black board member who said the school's namesake was a "terrorist and racist." After hearing about three hours of public comments, Duval County School Board members voted 5-2 to the retain the name of Nathan Bedford Forrest High School. Odd News-'Bra Bandit' strikes again in southwest Florida

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - There's a bra bandit on the loose in southwest Florida. The Lee County Sheriff's Office was searching for an individual they say stole 160 bras valued at nearly $6,000 on Thursday from a Victoria Secret store, the latest in a string of bra burglaries in the area.

Since February, authorities say 452 bras valued at nearly $19,000 have been stolen from two of the chain's southwest Florida locations. Six different bra thefts at the stores have been reported during that time.

Investigators said a female customer walked into the store Thursday and immediately went to a four-drawer cabinet with new bras of the PINK brand name. The store manager told deputies the woman waited until employees were busy helping customers and then thrust the bras into a bag and exited the store.

Florida - A Florida man and his son were rescued from the Atlantic Ocean Sunday after being swept away by the outgoing tide the night before while swimming near Daytona Beach. Walter Marino, 46, and his son Chris Marino, 12, both from Winter Park, Fla., were found Sunday morning after more than 12 hours at sea, the U.S. Coast Guard said. The father was found by a boater around 7:30 a.m. Sunday approximately 8 miles from shore.
